Registered Gardens

English Heritage maintains a national Register of Parks and Gardens of special historic interest in England with gardens categorised as Grade I if they are of international importance, Grade II* if they are of exceptional historic interest and the majority listed as Grade II.

Inclusion on the Register does not afford any statuary controls although it does become a ‘material consideration’ in the planning process and local authorities are required to make provision for the historic environment in their plans. Gloucestershire sites on the Register are:
