Garden Visits 2018
Sarsden House Gardens
Saturday, 9 June 2018 at 2.00 pm
Sarsden House, Chipping Norton, Oxfordshire OX7 6PP
In 1796 Humphry Repton produced the Red Book outlining his proposals for the park and pleasure grounds at Sarsden. His rusticated stone bridge and boathouse in the form of a classical temple still provide focal points in magnificent grounds whose development was continued by his son George. The gardens were restored and new areas, including a pool garden, white garden and rose garden, were designed by Christopher Masson towards the end of the 20C. The current owners, Mr and Mrs Tony Gallagher who have kindly given us this rare opportunity to visit, have added the Chapel Garden.
Cost: £8.00 (members), £10.00 (guests, if space allows).
Howard Garden, Daglingworth
Friday, 15 June 2018 at 6.00 pm
Daglingworth House, Daglingworth, near Cirencester, Gloucestershire GL7 7AG
In a beautiful Cotswold setting beside the Saxon Church, this is a classical garden with a contemporary twist. Water features abound and, at the time of our visit, the walled garden should be full of peonies with candelabra roses coming into their own. The visit is being held in the evening when the light in the garden is particularly pretty. We will be guided by owner Etta Howard, who, with her husband David, has gardened here since 1994 and is also a guide at Highgrove.
Cost: £8.00 (members), £10.00 (guests, if space allows)

This large garden has been created over the last 30 years by owners Simon and Jessica Dickinson. Our planned visit to Badminton last year sadly had to be cancelled owing to the death of the Duke. It has, however, been re-arranged, this time to include a tour of the house itself, as well as the South Front Gardens, Walled Kitchen Gardens, Orangery, East Front Gardens and the church.
If you were booked for the tour last year, and wish to come on this visit, please indicate this on your booking form and you will be given priority.

Banks Fee Gardens

Banks Fee House, Banks Fee Lane, Longborough, Moreton-in-Marsh, GL56 0QF
Banks fee comprises a large parkland landscape with its 18C boundaries virtually intact. From the Georgian house, there are distant views over the parkland, which contains magnificent, ancient hedgerow oaks, as well as many ornamental tree plantings, both mature and new. In recent years the garden designer Arne Maynard has prepared extensive garden proposals for the present owner, many of which have been implemented.

We will also be given a guided tour of the gallery and opportunity to visit the Radic Pavilion. We will have tea/coffee and homemade biscuits on arrival (10.15 am approx) and lunch of sandwiches and fruit prepared by the Roth Bar and Grill on site.
In contrast, in the afternoon we visit East Lambrook Manor, the iconic and quintessentially English cottage garden created by celebrated 20C plantswoman and gardening writer, Margery Fish. There is also an excellent specialist hardy plant nursery in the garden. We will have tea/coffee and cake before commencing our return journey at about 4.15 pm
