Date and Time
By kind permission of Sophie Conran, our final visit this year will be to the gardens of this private domain. Although just out of Gloucestershire it is an important Grade II country villa with beautiful gardens surrounding it.
The early nineteenth century elegant country villa was probably enlarged in the Victorian era to suit a growing band of servants. Unusually, a walled garden surrounds the entrance to the house, wrapping around deep herbaceous and shrub borders. On the eastern side, lawned terraces and herbaceous borders lead down to meadows and paths, and this extends to the pond area, where a light touch is made of seating areas. Elsewhere, a hydrangea border leads away to the cutting and vegetable gardens which will be in full production at this time of year. The vegetable garden is overlooked by a glasshouse filled with scented pelargoniums.
Sophie and her head gardener Anna will be on hand to answer questions and our visit will include tea and cake.
