Belcombe Court is a stunning Grade 1 listed Georgian house on the outskirts of Bradford on Avon. It was originally built by John Wood the Elder, architect of many of Bath’s most famous and beautiful buildings. It is now used as an events venue for weddings and even IF Opera (despite its proximity to the noisy railway).
The four acres of landscaped garden were developed in neo-classical ‘Picturesque’ style, with a glorious front lawn overlooking a large ornamental pond. From a magnificent Cedar hangs a swing straight from a Fragonard painting, and there is a shell grotto by Blott Kerr-Wilson as well as a rotunda and ruined temple, contemporary with Stourhead, to explore. But the modern touches, with planted terraces climbing to an infinity pool with the most magnificent view, are equally delightful and designed with imaginative planting, sculptures and water features and great attention to detail – even the colour of the swimming pool liner closely matches the potted agapanthus.

Additional information: Parking will be available in the field opposite, although the road is narrow. Toilets will be available. There are a lot of steps, and the climb to the swimming pool terrace is steep-going.
